On Festivals which fall on weekdays, we sing Ladonai Ha'aretz (Psalm 24) as we carry the Torah scrolls back to the ark, following the Torah reading. This splendid melody is understood to have been composed by Haim Wasserzug, though it doesn't appear anywhere in his magnum opus Schirei Mikdosch (and there are some other melodies for Psalm 24 there). I am personally very familiar with this setting, as it is used in both orthodox synagogues in Birmingham: Central and Singers Hill. Most other UK congregations defer to Mombach's composition. It is written in ABCC form with a dramatic opening, a lighter section beginning "He shall receive blessing" in duple time with some rather unusual harmony, and a dancelike theme for the final verses "O gates, lift up your heads!"
